Review
IP Address is a combination of four numbers of 3 digits each (in general IPV4 configuration). For example, 192.168.100.1. Any computer connected to some network has an IP Address that is assigned to it automatically or manually.
For a computer connected to the internet, there is a specific IP Address. The computer could be identified by that number as long as it is connected to it. Now, it is a common observation that when we visit many websites, we see advertisements related to the place where we are. Even if we visit "Google.com", it takes us to the local "Google.co.uk" or "Google.co.in". An IP address over the internet can mean a lot of things about the computer we are using, I mean where it is (or where we are). It could also be used to trace us if we are doing some mischief, hacking, etc.
There is a way to hide our IP from the internet / websites.
A proxy is a remote computer which could be used to access internet through them. Means, the internet we are using could be through that computer! We request web pages for particular sites, and that computer accesses the sites for us. After downloading the webpage, we download it from that PC. So, if the remote PC is in some other country, the website will think that we are from that place OR it will only get the IP of that computer.
Generally we use the IP address and an open port of that PC.
In "Hide IP", the program makers have their own servers running as proxies, so that the program can easily hide our IP. It is really easy to use, and it stays as a small icon on the taskbar. Just right click and click "Hide IP", and all will be done. The program is quite effective, but the proxies can be quite slow at times. |
